Pekan Raya Jakarta 2008: The Sport Motor Show
Pekan Raya Jakarta (PRJ), is the annual event celebrating Jakarta's birthday -- where you can find the various of products sold by so many vendors. Start from food, clothing, electronics, computers, cars and one of my main object of visit is motorcycle of sport class. All the big motor vendors in Indonesia is trying to attract the visitor, by offering their line of products. And the interesting part, they also show-up some of their "ultimate" motor -- the one that is quite expensive (according to me) for 'a motorcycle' to have; unless, of course you're a collector or a hobbyist of motorcycling.
Picture #1, as claimed by vendor (Yamaha), is a motor used by Valentino Rossi for GP500, along with Doni Tata's motor. Doni Tata is Indonesian racer for 250 cc class. Looks odd as in why Rossi's motor is much bigger than Doni's (is it true that 500 cc motor is much bigger than 250 cc?)
Most of the motors are from Yamaha and Kawasaki (sorry, I forgot to notice the type of those motors). I also took a chance, taking a snapshot while riding a red Kawasaki Ninja (once again I didn't make note of the type) as you can see in picture #6. *Yeah, for me this motor is still too expensive to buy*
The other motor that catch my eyes are one from TVS (picture #7), a Indian motor manufacturer that is widening its market to Indonesia. This is an electric motorcycle, and only shown as prototype -- don't know when they will launch it to market.
The last picture #8, coming from Suzuki , whose price around IDR 250 millions.. *Woww*
Well, actually -- I had an expectation to see more motors from other vendors, such as Ducatti or Harley. As you might know (or not), those 2 vendors have already had their customers in Indonesia. Will I see them in the next PRJ 2009? Hope so!
